Mother Mother Mother
Shelter Gallery
Mother, Mother, Mother, Rebecca Goyette’s second solo exhibition with the gallery. This new body of work examines femininity across generations through drawing, ceramics, and quilting, weaving together personal history with archetypal symbolism.
Referencing the Triple Goddess — a figure representing the maiden, mother, and crone — Goyette explores the shifting roles within the maternal lineage, from nurtured daughter to caregiver. Themes of familial intimacy, care, and transformation emerge throughout the exhibition.
A central element of the show is Goyette’s collaboration with her mother, Louise Goyette, on a series of quilts. These works function as material expressions of love and protection, embodying a shared practice that honors intergenerational craft and resilience.
Alongside the quilts, Goyette’s ceramics and drawings explore broader themes of generational memory, connection to nature, and the rupture between contemporary life and ancestral knowledge. Through these works, she invites viewers to reflect on their own place within inherited narratives of femininity and care.
