Crustacean Temptation

Video Performance

Crustacean Temptation is an experimental video work by Rebecca Goyette, conceived and filmed in Berlin. Blurring the boundaries between performance art, experimental cinema, and subcultural documentary, the piece follows a cast of Berlin-based creatives—drawn from the city’s vibrant art, music, club, and LGBTQ+ kink scenes—many of whom were invited into the project through Tinder. Together, they collaboratively construct a surreal, pleasure-forward fantasy world guided by Goyette’s performance avatar, the provocatively playful Lobsta Labia.

Framed through the lens of consensual roleplay and radical imagination, Crustacean Temptation explores intimacy, vulnerability, and the subversion of normative social constructs. As Goyette explains, “When strangers come together to perform in an orgiastic, pleasure-centered way, the chance for surprise chemistry and a co-created fantasy space can develop, and that shared fantasy asserted itself into the public space of Berlin.”

What emerges is a psychological and social exploration of connection, where desire, touch, and the gaze are liberated from prescriptive identity frameworks. The work challenges conventional narratives of monogamy, heteronormativity, and public decorum through a lens that is both humorous and radically inclusive.

Crustacean Temptation has been exhibited and screened internationally, including venues and festivals in England, Germany, Italy, and Korea.
